Dr. Nejdet "NJ" Delener
Dr. Nejdet "NJ" Delener is Dean of the School of Business at the State University of New York at Old Westbury
/ Long Island, USA.
Dr. Delener has lectured at universities overseas and at over sixty conferences and seminars as an
authority on international business and marketing strategy. As an expert in the areas of international
marketing strategy and cross-cultural buyer behavior (especially applied to American, European, Japanese
and Chinese companies), Dr. Delener has published ten books and over one hundred articles in prestigious,
refereed journals, including the Journal of International Consumer Marketing, Journal of Advertising Research,
Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science,
Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, Journal of Euromarketing, The International
Journal of Bank Marketing, among others. In addition, he has been quoted in The New York Times, Newsday, and
appeared on NBC Television interviews.
Dean Delener has conducted numerous executive seminars in many countries, including Brazil, England,
Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, and Turkey. He has also been a consultant
to companies in many countries, including Marriott Corporation, the Beaumont Organization, Ltd., and
Ellington Duval Inc: Worldwide Marketing Group. He was a Visiting Professor at Wells, Rich, and Greene
BDDP during the summer of 1996. Furthermore, he has served on many editorial boards and is currently an
executive editor for the Journal of Global Business and Technology. Dr. Delener has been presented with
several awards in the areas of graduate teaching and scholarship, administration, as well as a research
grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
Dr. Delener is the honorary inductee of Iota Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma. Dr. Delener was selected to
Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World.
Dr. Delener received his Ph.D. in Marketing and International Business from the Graduate School of the
City University of New York; an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance and an A.P.C. in Strategic Planning both
from Stern School of Business, New York University and a B.Sc. degree magna cum laude in Business
Administration from University of Uludag. He also holds a diploma in Economics from Oxford Polytechnic
Institute, England.
Prior to joining SUNY Old Westbury, Dr. Delener had served since 1996 as the Director of International
Business Studies at St. John's University and from 1997 to 2005 as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
at the Tobin College of Business at the University. He was also a visiting lecturer at Erasmus University
in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
